Christians need to recall—while participating in local efforts of soul winning, when giving verbal witness to a stranger on a train, when meeting in a small Bible study—that the pilings upon which the foundations of this building have been poured are sunk deeply into the four corners of this planet.
Flickering in the provincial capital of a tiny mid-eastern country 2,000 years ago, this faith has flamed in the face of war, treachery, famine, disaster. Sometimes the light has sparked from candle to candle, then burned forlornly alone in dark places. At other times it has swept in as revival fires.
Evangelism has always been part of God’s worldwide strategy. We are inviting people to experience not only changed lives, but shared lives. God is creating His household on the face of this spinning planet. Through Jesus Christ He is redeeming this world to its original design.
One day when our Lord comes again in glory, man will be restored to what he was primarily intended to be. He will be like that man/God who was earthbound temporarily but who fleshed out for all history what truly was the Creator’s original intent. Man will be filled again with the Spirit of God.
Society will harmonize. War and injustice will give way to the law and order established by a just Judge and a benevolent King. Man will be able to live in peace with man. There will be no disadvantaged, oppressed or underprivileged.
